THE HEAT IS ON FOR THE FBC STUDENTS’ UNION PRESIDENCY
As it stands, Umaru Turay and Samuel Katta are the two most popular presidential hopefuls for the coming Fourah Bay College Students’ Union elections.
The election is expected to hold on Friday October 21st at the Mount Aureol Campus.
All clubbing activities are on an indefinite ban on campus, but observers say that the atmosphere on campus is suggesting otherwise.
Samuel is believed to be a candidate for the blacks’ whiles Umaru is said to be one for the whites’.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor and Principal in the University of Sierra Leone, Professor Ekundayor Thompson had proposed what he called a ‘new students’ governance structure’ with the hope that it would enhance the running and peaceful coexistence of a students’ body for the three constituent colleges of the University.
Intelligence has it that the coming Fourah Bay College Students’ Union elections would be riotous if the needed mechanisms are not put in place.
In another development, some concerned students have written an open letter to the University administration expression grievance over what they term as the ‘endorsing of an illegitimate National Union of Students’ executive.’
